The Kuhns family commitment to the environment is just as important as their commitment to each other, since a healthy environment is key to a healthy family, healthy business and healthy world. As a member of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and National Arbor Day Foundation, Kuhns Bros. Enterprise understands that the way in which wood is harvested makes all the difference to the health of the forest.

Their staff of full-time foresters oversees their log harvesting process with care, knowing the fundamental role forests play in the survival of all life on earth. They know that replanting after harvesting is critical, but more important is the bigger picture—how to supply a steady flow of logs while protecting the drinking water and fish in the streams and the habitat that wildlife depends upon for survival. They understand the role of standing dead trees in providing dens for animals, sanctuaries for birds to nest and nourishment for fragile young seedlings.

Kuhns Bros. Enterprise understands and cares to protect this fragile interdependence that man has with his environment, which is why they don't waste any of the forest resource either. They have markets for every tree they harvest, using everything from prime veneer logs to firewood, creating everything from Country Log Cabins to mulch. Even the sawdust from the manufacturing and milling processes is collected and utilized by the local farmers for livestock bedding and other productive uses.
